Anti-Violence
Transgender people face extraordinary levels of physical and sexual violence at school, at work, at home, in public life, and at the hands of people in power. More than one in four trans people has faced a bias-driven assault, and rates are higher for trans women and trans people of color.
A4TE is working with anti-violence groups, women’s rights groups, racial justice groups, and federal and state law enforcement agencies to combat anti-trans violence. Public education, policy change, and community efforts are needed to address the complex causes of anti-trans violence and ensure victims can receive support.
Violence towards members of the trans community is unacceptable - and too often, this violence results in the death of trans people. Each year, we create a memorial to the beloved trans lives we’ve lost, and we work to make sure that this effort goes far beyond the annual Transgender Day of Remembrance.
Trans Remembrance Project
Trans Day of Remembrance is November 20. Every year, A4TE's Trans Remembrance Project memorializes the transgender people whose lives were lost in the previous year.
