Medical Experts, Lawmakers, and Veterans Stand Up For Trans Vets

Earlier this summer, we had a unique opportunity to fight a decades-old barrier between transgender veterans and life-saving health care. In response to a lawsuit brought on behalf transgender veterans, the Department of Veterans Affairs launched a review of its ban against some transition-related treatments at VA hospitals and clinics and put out the request for feedback from the public about the exclusion.

This ban denies thousands of veterans treatment even their own VA doctors say they need, and it stands in opposition to good science, effective policy, and sound morals. In order to stand up against this rule, we knew we would need as many voices from veterans and all who support them to tell VA exactly how this ban harms the very people who deserve the most.
